DERP: Drug Effectiveness Review Project

The Drug Effectiveness Review Project (DERP) is a collaboration of organizations that have joined together to obtain the best available evidence on effectiveness and safety comparisons between drugs in the same class, and to apply the information to public policy and decision making in local settings.

Best Buy Drugs

Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs is a public education project of Consumers Union, the publisher of Consumer Reports. The mission of the Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs project is to provide consumers and their doctors with information to help guide prescription drug choices–based on effectiveness, a drug's track record, safety and price.

The Medical Letter

The Medical Letter is a nonprofit organization founded in 1959 by Arthur Kallet, the co-founder of Consumers Union, and Dr. Harold Aaron. Its newsletters, The Medical Letter on Drugs and Therapeutics and Treatment Guidelines from The Medical Letter, publish critical appraisals of new drugs and comparative reviews of older drugs.

PharmedOut

PharmedOut is an independent, publicly funded project that empowers physicians to identify and counter inappropriate pharmaceutical promotion practices. PharmedOut promotes evidence-based medicine by providing news, resources, and links to pharma-free CME courses.

Prescriber's Letter

The Prescriber's Letter is an independent, online subscription service that provides objective evidence-based information on new developments in drug therapy.

Rx Facts

RxFacts, the Independent Drug Information Service (iDiS), is an innovative program designed to provide physicians with an evidence-based, non-commercial source of the latest findings about the drugs they prescribe.

Wal-Mart and Target $4 Prescriptions

This year, both Wal-Mart and Target Corp. have begun offering a $4 generic prescription program.  You can find out more about each program by visiting their websites at Wal-Mart and Target.  You can also learn more about the programs by speaking with a store pharmacist or your health care practitioner.
